THE brilliant Donegal Youth Orchestra ended their season with a superb performance on Sunday evening in Dún Luiche.
Our DonegalDaily TV video features ‘The Hills of Donegal’ a superb musical arrangement by conductor and composer Vincent Kennedy featuring Báidín Fheilimí and Shoe The Donkey.
It is performed jointly by the County Donegal Youth Orchestra and trad group Ceoltóiri Chloich Cheannfhaola at Ioand Cois Locha, Dún Luiche.
The concert was a triumph for the orchestra and featured superb solos by Jamie McGarrigle (cornet), Killian Doyle (flute), Peter Howard (saxophone), Maria Bergin (violin), Sinead Gallagher (vocals) and Niall Kerr (viola).
There was also a special performance by members of the group who have also formed the Errigal Groove Orchestra (EGO). We will have a short DDTV video from that later in the week.
The Youth Orchestra pulled off a stunning rendition of Coldplay’s Viva la Vida (they played it twice to the delight of the large audience) but the highlight was their performances of Kearney’s own compositions Suite from The Hook – A Place and A People.
