More than €4 million has been allocated to upgrade roads across County Donegal.
The announcement is part of a €60million package announced in the past few minutes by Transport Minister Leo Varadkar.
The plan, which has been welcomed by Labour Senator Jimmy Harte, will create a number of jobs locally.
Senator Harte said the announcement is to be welcomed on two fronts.
“Firstly the announcement will go a long way towards upgrading a number of local and regional roads in the county.
“Also this is a major investment which will lead to the creation of jobs.
“The fear was that with the downturn in the economy area that areas in Donegal which were not represented in the past would remain so.
“I’m happy that Labour and Fine Gael are now recognising that Donegal has been ignored in the past and this will go some way towards improving our roads infrastructure,” he said.
The announcement is part of an overall jobs creation package which is expected to create at least 1,000 new jobs in other sectors including tourism.
