A working group from Donegal County Council has been set up to tackle the problem of unfinished housing estates across Inishowen.
The move follows an emergency motion put down by Sinn Fein Cllr Jack Murray which was endorsed yesterday by Donegal County Council.
Cllr Murray said the motion has fulfilled one of his main promises which he gave to many people in Inishowen before he was recently co-opted onto Donegal County Council in place of Deputy Padraig MacLochlainn.
“Shortly after being co-opted onto Donegal County Council I gave a commitment to call for the establishment of a working group in Inishowen to address this issue.
“At today’s Council meeting it was agreed to set up a working group which will include all county councillors in the peninsula as well as senior officials from the Council’s housing, water & environment, roads and planning sections.
“While financial constraints make it very difficult for the Council to fix the huge problems in these estates, I believe that the establishment of this body is a proactive step towards addressing the plight faced by hundreds of families in Inishowen,” he said.
