Over the Easter week end the place to be basking in glorious sunshine was Portsalon Golf Course. The club arranged a host of open competitions and with the excellent weather conditions were ideal for good golf. The competitions attracted large turnouts throughout the week end. The events got under way with the Mc Corick’s Pharmacy sponsored 18 hole stableford competition and the winner was 21 handicaper Kevin Willimson with 41 points, runner up Eugene Mc Cafferty (23) 39 points, Gross barry Mc Gettigan (3) 33 points 3rd Joe Harrison (16) 37 points, 4th Kevin Mc Gonagle (6) 36 points. Visitor Declan Mc Ateer Concra Wood. Best nines went to Eamon O’Brien and John Sandilands. The CSS was 34 points. The Captain Donal Callaghan would like to extend his and the clubs thanks to the sponsor Mc Cormicks PPharmacy Milford for their continued support to Portsalon Golf Club. On Easter Sunday 24th the winner was Sam Faulkner (14) 40 points, runner up John Shields (4) 40 points, Gross D P Logue (5) 33 points 3rd Peter Doherty (22) 40 points. The CSS was 37 points. On Easter Monday the winner was James T Toal (25) 41 points, 2nd Ciaran Mc Fadden (10) 40 points, Gross Seamus Patton (6) 33 points 3rd Ryan Mc Gettigan (9) 40 points. The CSS was . The winner of the Wednesday open played on 20th was Donal Callaghan jr (18) 42 points, 2nd Tony Kingston (12) 40 points, Gross Connor Connolly (5) 33 points, 3rd Chuck Mc Taggart (12) 39 points.The CSS was 38 points.

On Saturday 30th April there is a gent’s open competition On Sunday 1st May there is Portsalon Golf Club Fundraising Classic event. This will be an open competition any combination. Mixed Foursomes
The Portsalon mixed foursomes nine hole competitions resume on Friday 29th April with a 5.45. p.m. tee off.
Ulster Cup
The first of the team events will get underway on Easter Sunday 24th as Andy Boland leads his Ulster Cup team to Blackwood Golf Club Bangor in this first round first leg match. The travelling Portsalon team suffered a severe defeat of six matches to one. Team captain Andy Boland recorded a fine win for the Portsalon team who also are seventeen holes down. The Portsalon team will have it all to do on Saturday 30th April in the return leg
300 Members Draw
The April draw of the Portsalon Golf Club Members draw was held on Easter Sunday night and the results were as follows; €400 Johnny Martin,€300 Aoine & Manuel Friel,,€200 John Dunlevey and €100 each to Peter Coyle, Sean Mc Ateer and Brian Able.
Golfer of the year 2010
At a presentation on Easter Sunday night Connor Connolly was presented with the Portsalon Golf Club’s Golfer of the Year award.
Match Play.
Entries are now been taken for the 2011 singles and doubles match play events. In order to have your name included in the dray for both events your entry fee must be paid at the time of entry. The winners of the 2010 match play competitions were presented with their awards on Easter Sunday night. The winner of the singles was John Fitzgerald and the doubles winners was John Shields and Aidan Cannon.
Jimmy Bruen
Under the leadership of Ollie Connolly the Portsalon team in this season’s Jimmy Bruen competition will travel to Ballybofey for this qualifying round.
