LETTERKENNY COUNCILLOR ASKS RESIDENTS TO PUT A LID ON IT

A Letterkenny Councillor has accused some residents of being ‘bin lids’ for not looking after their wheelie bins.

Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh says he is sick of people leaving their rubbish bins at the front of their homes all week and not bringing them into their yards or gardens.

The Fine Gael councillor is to raise a question at tonight’s town council meeting asking the council to advise residents to keep their bins out of view.

Cllr Kavanagh says residents should take it upon themselves to keep their bins out of sight “except on collection day.”

He says that the habit is becoming widespread and many people are leaving their wheelie bins at the front of their homes on a permanent basis.

“I will be asking the council to see what they can do about this problem. I’m only raising it in the interests of the estate cleanliness and also to help the Tidy Town effort,” said Cllr Kavanagh.
