TOP DONEGAL chef Conrad Gallagher is refusing to comment on claims he owes almost €190,000 to an ex-girlfriend.
Karla Elliott – the ex-wife of Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott – claims she is broke and has asked Gallagher to pay back a IR£150,000 loan she gave him back in 2000.
Gallagher has two restaurants in Ireland, having left debts behind in two other countries.
When Karla’s beauty salon business went bust in 2009, she bombarded the Letterkenny man with emails demanding he pay her back.
“I am desperately in need of my money back. I helped you in your time of need,” she begged.
A few months later another email said: “I’m in the middle of writing a book….and all the memories of my life are reminding me of how unfair it is that you can feed your daughter and I can’t (feed mine).”
Gallagher has since refused to hand over the money to Karla, his former fiancee.
This is despite admitting that he received IR£150,000 (€190,000) from her during a High Court hearing in 2000.
