Motorists are being advised to be vigilant today as wind and rain has left roads in the county in a dangerous condition.
Large pools of standing water are affecting roads Letterkenny, Buncrana, Donegal Town, Ardara, Glenties, Gaoth Dobhair and many other areas with floods increasing where snow and ice continue to melt.
AA roadwatch warn that rain falling on top of thawing ice will result in very slippy conditions and possibly localised flooding.
Gardai are also warning motorists in the county to be extremely careful.
However donegaldaily.com has had several emails this morning from readers angry at some of the driving of fellow motorists over the weekend and yesterday – with some ‘idiots’ (some in 4x4s) overtaking in slushy conditions.
One reader fumed: “I was on the dual carriageway to Manor this morning and a plonker almost put me off the road. The roads are still bad in places and some people just don’t care.”
