WELL-KNOWN driving instructor Noel Sweeney has become a huge hit on the internet after giving a series of wacky videos for driving in the snow.
Noel, of the Swilly School of Motoring in Letterkenny, is famous across Donegal for his colourful driving lessons over the past 30 years along his expression “Now don’t say you weren’t told.”
But now hundreds of people are logging onto his You Tube videos which teach nervous drivers how to drive safely in the freezing conditions of recent days.
Happy-go-lucky Noel compares driving in the snow with ‘ballroom dancing’, telling drivers they have to do everything smoothly.
The ten minute tutorial even shows drivers what happens when drive the wrong way in the snow with scenes of Noel losing control of his own car!
“A lot of people understandably are terrified of driving in the snow simply because of the fact that they are not used to it.
“But the bottom line is that they can learn how to drive safely in snow if, like the ballroom dancing, they take things smoothly and learn a few things.
“It’s not rocket science and I hope these videos will help people to have the confidence to get behind the wheel in the snow and to get to their destination safely.
“After these tips we hope that we don’t end up with four wheels up in the air and in the hedge. It has been known to happen before,” said Noel.
The hilarious driving-instructor has also made other short videos telling people how to prepare their cars for driving in the snow.
The videos were made by Noel’s very nervous son Brian.
