Buncrana man admits selling drugs

June 19, 2024

A Buncrana man has pleaded guilty to having quantities of controlled drugs to sell or supply to others.

Patrick McNamee appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court where he was formally arraigned before Judge John Aylmer.

McNamee, a 28-year-old of Burwood, Buncrana, spoke only to plead guilty when three charges were read to him.

McNamee is charged that he had the drugs in his possession at his home on March 25, 2021.

McNamee pleaded guilty to having quantities of cannabis, cocaine and MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) for the unlawful sale or supply to others.

The charges are contrary to section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977.

Barrister for the accused, Mr Peter Nolan BL, instructed by solicitor Mr Frank Dorrian, said his client is a “young man with no previous” and told the court that a probation and welfare report would be a “great help”.

Judge John Aylmer requested a report, to include suitability for community service.

The case was adjourned to the next session of Letterkenny Circuit Court.
