Taoiseach Simon Harris has slammed those who attacked Gardai overnight at a site planned for international protection applicants in Co Wicklow.
Six people arrested, four men, one woman and a juvenile, are still being detained.
Three garda cars were damaged at the protest at the site in Netownmountkennedy.
Mr Harris said gardaí are “charged with upholding the laws of the land and they should be supported in doing so”.
“This is a country of laws. Attacks on gardaí should be condemned by all,” he added.
Minister for Justice Helen McEntee said she does not think anyone looking at pictures from last night would disagree with the approach taken by gardaí.
Speaking to Newstalk, Ms McEntee said people do not have a right to prevent someone from entering their property, from going to work, or from developing a site that they own.
