Drivers are being warned of dangerous road conditions across Donegal tonight as heavy snow showers blanket the north west.
Travel problems have already been reported in Letterkenny and many main routes across Donegal due to snow.
Several cars are reported to be in difficulty on Lurgbybrack hill outside Letterkenny tonight.
Donegal County Council has warned people to avoid unnecessary journeys tonight. Worst affected routes with snow are said to be Meenaroy, Drumkeen, Barnesmore, the back of Errigal, Pettigo, the N14 Letterkenny to Lifford road and Glentogher. Council gritters were deployed at 6pm and will be out working until midnight.
A Status Orange Snow-ice Warning is in place for Donegal until 12noon on Thursday.
If you must travel in this weather, the AA Roadwatch remind drivers that it can take up to ten times longer to stop when driving in icy conditions. Slow down and keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you.
