The 2017 Joule Donegal International Rally takes place from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th June and entry forms and regulations are now available via www.donegalrally.ie.
The Joule Donegal International Rally is Ireland’s only three day event and attracts some of the best rally teams and crews from around the world.
The entry fee for the main field three-day rally is €1,375, the entry fee for the historic crews is €840, running Saturday and Sunday, and for the junior crews is €565, who will be running on Sunday, these prices including all insurance levies. Closing date for entries is Wednesday, 17th May.
Clerk of the Course, Eamon McGee is encouraging rally crews to register early for this year’s event.
“The Joule Donegal International Rally remains the only three-day International Rally in Ireland, and crews will have the opportunity to visit some of the most famous stages in the world,” McGee said.
“Names such as Knockalla, Atlantic Drive, Fanad Head and High Glen will raise the pulse of even the most seasoned competitors.
“These stages mixed with others will see crews’ complete twenty stages over the weekend. Entry for this year’s Donegal International Rally closes a few days after the Donegal Forestry Rally and I’d like to remind club members that by marshalling at this event it will help gain points that will enhance chances of obtaining an entry to the year’s rally in June.”
Preparations and plans are almost finalised for this year’s event which sees some minor changes to the route.
McGee said: “The 2017 rally route has evolved from last year. This means crews will once again get the maximum stages mileage yet at the same time; it keeps road mileage to a minimum.
“Crews will take on six stages on the opening day of the Joule Donegal International Rally in the Letterkenny/Ballybofey area with centralised service area in Letterkenny. On Saturday, crews will tackle some famous stages such as Knockalla and Gartan Lake as part of the eight scheduled stages and the service will be based in Milford. On the final day, crews will battle it out around Glen, Fanad and the Atlantic Drive hoping to secure a place on the leaderboard.”
Organisers of the event and the Donegal Motor Club have worked hard to keep costs to a minimum for competitors.
