Former Donegal star and pundit Martin McHugh has hailed Jim McGuinness as Donegal’s best-ever manager.
The Kilcar man, who has gone for Dublin to beat Donegal before the game, said the Glenties man got everything right against the Dubs at Croke Park yesterday.
“You have to gibe McGuinness enormous credit. He is the best manager Donegal have ever had, and one of the best in any county in the modern era.
“After being beaten out of the game last year by Mayo, many thought it was all over for McGuinness and for Donegal.
“Instead, he got them promoted, won another Ulster title and took Dublin’s scalp against all the odds yesterday,” said McHugh.
McHugh paid a special tribute to his own son Ryan who was magnificent with a personal tally of 2-2.
“Ryan is my son, so I’m a bit biased, but he was class for his second goal early in the second half.
“If he caught the ball, Stephen Cluxton would have been out on him and smothered him.
“But he did the right thing, palming the ball away from Cluxton and into the corner,” he said.
