LITTLE did he know that a sidekick role in a sing-song on a beach in Lanzarote a few weeks ago would make his famous – but that’s what has happened to a fake Rolex-selling Jimmy from Senegal.
And now we can confirm he’s coming to Donegal – with Kilcar man Rory Gallagher.
Their song ‘Jimmy’s Winning Matches’ has become an internet sensation.
And children across Donegal are singing it as the new anthem for Jim McGuinness and his Donegal team ahead of the All-Ireland final in three weeks’ time.
Jimmy (from Senegal that is, not Glenties) had gone missing after Donegal beat Cork last Sunday.
But he has since turned up – and Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher has been working behind the scenes to get Jimmy a visa so he can visit Ireland to perform alongside Rory.
Gigs are being lined up across the county including at Harvey’s Point and at a Letterkenny club.
And RTE sources have confirmed Donegal/Senegal’s hottest duet have been booked to play on the pre-Final TV show ‘Up For The Match.’
It has been an incredible journey for the two men – their YouTube video became a massive hit after appearing on Donegal Daily.
Said Rory: “It just took off after that. I’m looking forward to coming home to play some gigs and see the final. It will be great to have Jimmy there too. I’m not sure he realises yet just how big this all is.”
